Shabu-Shabu in Japanese Village Plaza

Shabu-Shabu House cooks in the Japanese style: each seat at the long counter gets its own pot of simmering water, and you swish thin slices of raw beef through it for a few seconds, then dip them in ponzu. It sits at 127 Japanese Village Plaza in Little Tokyo, and locals line up for it.

The Meal

A shabu-shabu order comes with sliced beef, a vegetable plate, noodles and rice. Extra beef, vegetables and noodles can be added. Wagyu platters come in regular and premium grades, and the regular one is enough for two.

The menu has grown beyond shabu-shabu, with sushi rolls, pork katsu, bulgogi with rice and miso soup, and drinks from Sapporo and cold sake to Thai tea.

Before You Go

Shabu-Shabu House is open every day from 11 AM to 10 PM, and until 10:30 PM on Friday and Saturday. Parking is in the Little Tokyo pay lots around the plaza.
